Background

A creative team & UX collaboration to reimagine the Germs agency website as a Wes Anderson film set in orbit — guiding visitors through the studio's universe via an astronaut's helmet, framing every scene like a shot from The Grand Budapest Hotel, but weightless.

Role & responsibilities

Collaborated with the creative team and C-suite stakeholders to revamp the company website, ensuring creative concepts aligned with UX strategy and user needs.

Creative ideas

The creative concept was to lead users through a series of rooms in a guided tour from user PoV, discovering germs along the way. The experience drew inspiration from the distinctive visual style and storytelling of The Grand Budapest Hotel by Wes Anderson.

Design direction

While the overall concept was compelling, it didn't feel natural for design elements to appear out of thin air.

This is how the creatives imagine user PoV, the reception as main touchpoint for user interaction

I proposed evolving the concept by introducing a sci-fi setting, where the guided hotel is located in space. This narrative shift made the experience feel more distinctive while also solving a UX challenge: instead of UI elements appearing out of nowhere, visitors would wear a helmet-like device that projects contextual information into their field of view. This gave every interface element a clear purpose and strengthened the overall immersion by aligning the interactions with the story.

The creative team aligned with the proposed direction and recommended preserving the Wes Anderson-inspired aesthetic through warm color grading, symmetrical compositions, and vintage styling. This balanced the new space setting with a familiar visual language, creating a unique experience that felt imaginative without leaning too heavily into a typical sci-fi or alien theme.

And that is where the concept born, but to make it more pop-cultured reference I also look into modern movies that adopt vintage sci-fi and the closest would be Fallout & Loki

Thats when i thought about combining tempad UI style and Fallout's power armour HUD PoV into something like this.
